flashback

Someone once told me to choose this album, while we looked through the Columbia House catalog. We were sitting in the stucco house living room with the dark chocolate carpet.

We could've been on the various brown colored couch or the chair with the matching foot stool. It was the house where that person stuccoed either the walls or was it the ceiling, with a spatula.

What A Fool Believes Lyrics
Artist(Band):Doobie Brothers
Michael McDonald/Kenny Loggins

He came from somewhere back in her long ago
The sentimental fool don't see
Tryin' hard to recreate
What had yet to be created once in her life

She musters a smile
For his nostalgic tale
Never coming near what he wanted to say
Only to realize
It never really was

She had a place in his life
He never made her think twice
As she rises to her apology
Anybody else would surely know
He's watching her go

But what a fool believes he sees
No wise man has the power to reason away
What seems to be
Is always better than nothing
And nothing at all keeps sending him...

Somewhere back in her long ago
Where he can still believe there's a place in her life
Someday, somewhere, she will return

She had a place in his life
He never made her think twice
As she rises to her apology
Anybody else would surely know
He's watching her go

But what a fool believes he sees
No wise man has the power to reason away
What seems to be
Is always better than nothing
There's nothing at all
But what a fool believes he sees...

...When they talk to me, I pretend i can't hear them.
The Doobie Brothers sing in my ears. When they tell me that, "What a fool believes he sees, No wise man has the power to reason away,"I wonder if it's good or bad that I don't know if I'm the wise man or the fool...
Years later I told my grandma a song by this band reminded me of so & so, and so & so.  We were sitting in her house, after my grandpa died.

The house that was across the street from my uncle. I recited the lyrics to my grandma. She was the kind who understood things like that.

It's no coincidence if you know anything about these people or this time or the name.
I think the last time I saw so and so, that person mentioned the Michael McDonald greatest hits album in their vehicle.
No surprise to this girl. I just call them like I see them.
If you take the time to watch the videos, I believe it's worth it. Especially to laugh at the clothes, the  hair, & stuff.

Listen To The Music Lyrics
Artist(Band):Doobie Brothers
Tom Johnston

Don't you feel it growin',
Day by day
People
Gettin' ready for the news
Some are happy,
Some are sad
Wo, we got to let the music play
Wo, oh yeah
What the people need
Is a way to make 'em smile
It ain't so hard to do if you know how
Gotta get a message
Get it on through
Oh now mama's goin' to after awhile
Wo, oh, oh, listen to the music
Wo, oh, oh, listen to the music
Wo, oh, oh, listen to the music
All the time

Well I know,
You know better
Everything I say
Meet me in the country for a day
We'll be happy
And we'll dance
Wo, we're gonna dance the blues away
Wo, oh yeah
And if I'm feelin' good to you
And you're feelin' good to me
There ain't nothin' we can't do or say
Feelin' good,
Feeling fine
Wo, baby, let the music play

Wo, oh, oh, listen to the music
Wo, oh, oh, listen to the music
Wo, oh, oh, listen to the music
All the time

Like a lazy flowing river
Surrounding castles in the sky
And the crowd is growing bigger
List'nin' for the happy sounds
And I got to let ‘em fly

Wo, oh, oh, listen to the music
Wo, oh, oh, listen to the music
Wo, oh, oh, listen to the music
All the time
Wo, oh, oh, listen to the music
Wo, oh, oh, listen to the music
Wo, oh, oh, listen to the music
Wo, oh, oh, listen to the music
All the time
God, we gotta let the music play!
